History Of The Brush1987-88:- Club reformed as Derbyshire College of Education Rugby Football Club 1988-89:- Club's first full competitive season. 1989-90:- Club relocates to Kedleston Road campus from Mickleover campus.- Club wins all it's games and is asked to join courage league system.- Highlight of the season was victory over university of Loughborough Fresher's 1990-91:- Club becomes affiliated to RFU and Nottinghampshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire RFU.- A 100% record in the NLD 5 league means the club gains promotion.- Several players selected to represent England colleges at a 4 Nations tournament in the Isle of Man - 2nd XV plays its first competitive fixture 1991-92:- Season viewed as one of rebuilding and consolidation.- Club finishes in top half of league. League restructuring places club in NLD Division 3. 1992-93:- Club finishes mid-table in NLD division 3.- First ever club Easter Tour takes place to the Isle of Man. 1993-94:- Finish in the top 3 in the league. 1994-95:- Another league restructure sees the club placed in NLD division 2.- A superb season sees the club finish 2nd in the league, but the club is denied promotion due to the application of an obscure league rule [Rule 11(F)] 1995-96:- After previous season's disappointment, club holds its own to finish comfortably in mid-table. 1996-97:- A disastrous season both on and off the field sees the club relegated to NLD division 3. 1997-98:- Club finishes 4th in NLD division 3 and 3rd in the BUSA League. 1998-99:- Club continues rebuilding and works toward strengthening its squad for the following season's assault on the league. 1999-2000:- Club clinches NLD division 3 title on the last day of the season, having lost only two league fixtures along the way. In doing so, the club smashes its points scoring record.- Freshers XV plays its first competitive game. 2000-01:- Club suffers heavily from own success in previous season, combined with loss of several key players.- Freshers intake initially looks promising, but atmosphere at the club suffers as results go against the 'form book.'- The mighty SOJ (Simon Oliver Jones) arrives at the club and begins his reign of terror.- Overall the season is seen as one of rebuilding, club aims to adopt a more professional approach for next season. 2001-02:- After the turmoil of the previous season, the club has no league programme to fulfil for the first time in 11 years.- In spite of this, the club performs well in the BUSA league, only narrowly missing out on promotion after a tense end of season run-in 2002-03:- Having re-entered the RFU's league pyramid, the club's league campaign gets off to a slow start. After a number of superb mid-season results, however, the club is once again challenging for promotion at the end of the season, but has to settle for 4th place in the end.  2003-04: - The Club performs exceptionally well, a strong freshers intake providing enough of a boost to take 4th place in the NLD as well as winning every BUSA game to clinch promotion. - Highlights of the season include a gritty winning performance against Melbourne's massive pack in an away match as well as putting over 150 points on Newman College before the game was called off. Not to forget, of course the BUSA final against Staffordshire Uni (Stoke) which The Brush boys win in scintillating style.  2004-05:- The Club continues to improve on last season but narrowly missed out on promotion by finishing in 3rd place in the Derby/N Leicester league after having two points deducted earlier in the season due to a misunderstanding with Bakewell Mannerians. However, the club notably won the Derbyhire Sheild competion by firstly thumping league winners Long Eaton by 40 points in the semi's followed by a comfortable victory over Melbourne in the Final.-Unfortunaly BUSA was not quite as successful. After being promoted last season the club had some promising victories against the likes of Notts Trent and Leicester Uni before being withdrawn from BUSA by the University due to unforseen circumstances. This means the club has been relegated from Midlands 1a to Midlands 2a.
